W. A. Clark began construction on the mansion in 1884 and it was completed in 1888. Construction was under the direction of architect – D. T. McDevitt, and the woodwork accomplished by the W. F. Beall & Co. out of Chicago. Most of the materials for the home were imported at a cost of around $260,000. The majority of the home is in the original condition from 1888. You will see frescoed ceilings, stained glass windows, hand combed plaster walls, and gas & electric chandeliers. The tour takes approximately one hour and is truly exceptional.
